Many creatives and athletes alike would shout from the tops of mountains about the incredible benefits of floating, if we let them. Thanks to Dustin Erickson and the team over at Float Space, our poets will be gifted with some float time if they manage to take First, Second or Third place. But don't worry! Float Space is an inviting place where you can go to recharge, so check them out for yourself and let us know what you think.
Why do you think it is important to support the local art/culture scene?
Art and culture is the foundation of our communities, it brings life and light to every aspect of our daily experience. Art and culture is what inspires us to create change within ourselves and the world. The ability to create, to invent, to express could very well be considered the defining feature of the human species. And it is for that reason, supporting local art and culture is undeniably important.
2. What is your favourite place in the Valley?
Mill Creek Regional Park just past the Kelowna airport. A short 1km from the parking lot sits a spectacular series of small waterfalls, cedars, and cavern walls that always take my breath away. I have had several transformational experiences in this setting, and hold it very dear.
3. Which Simpson character is most like you? If you do not know the Simpson’s, which cartoon character is most like you?
Sokka from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
4. Which art form best describes your organization and why?
Qi Gong. Qi Gong is both an art form and an awareness practice using passive movement, and constant transformation. Float Space as an organization is built on the same principles. Although the service we offer is based primarily on solitude and stillness, Float Space as an organization is constantly changing, and moving fluidly towards a vision of ever increasing balance and vitality.
