" Maybe you are searching among the branches for what only appears in the roots."
Such a beautiful quote. As we are searching for things in life, sometimes we are only touching the surface of what we desire. You search for the growth on the branches, the life that exists there... not knowling that the true health and state of those branches is fed by what is invisible to the eye. It's nourished by the roots underneath. Just like us, we may search for external happiness in a house, a mate, material things. But the true source of happiness comes from deep within us, the root within us. After every leaf falls off the tree in our life, what is left? The roots... are they rotten roots or are they connected and flowing. Even if those branches break and die, if the root system is healthy then a new tree will grow. Just as you see new trees growing from dead trees. Underneath the surface there is life. Look for the roots in your life. What really gives you happiness? What really sustains you from the inside when all else falls away?.
