Inspirational Quote of the Week with Jessica Laplante

“The planet does not need more ‘successful people’. The planet desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of all kinds. It needs people to live well in their places. It needs people with moral courage willing to join the struggle to make the world habitable and humane and these qualities have little to do with success as our culture is the set. ”

How does one measure success in life? When I was a child I was conditioned to think it was to stay in school, go to college for years and get a degree in something. Now I have my degree and I have a job but also have student loan debts, car  debts, credit card debts and I do not own a house. Some people work their whole lives chasing money that when they look back on life they realize they never really lived the life they wanted or spent time with those they love. Life can become stagnant...stuck on auto pilot, we wake up, drop kids off at daycare, go to work, come home, eat sleep, wake up etc...  working long hours to have all the material things we want.... but are we happy?

I will ask you this , what fills your heart up? What ignites passion in your veins? I love poetry, words, story tellers of all kinds, as I listen to your words my heart opens, I am present and allow myself to be in the moment.  Something magical happens when I hear a poem, song or story that touches me, I become inspired to share, to connect with others. As humans its in our nature to want connection. It's through real connection of the heart where we can make changes. The arts is an outlet that honors the sacred space within us to connect with ourselves and each other. We are all like a single spark and when you bring the healers, dreamers, poets together.... we ignite.... we ignite a torch... this torch lights the way to a new life of inspiration, so we can inspire others.... Everyone has a story worth sharing and by sharing your story you allow others to have the courage to share as well.
