Springfield vs. Shelbyville Poetry Slam - No Lemon Throwing!

Vernon poet Dash Taheri said to the IWC collective a couple weeks back "You guys should do a team slam event again, except this time have it be Kelowna vs. The rest of the Valley and call it Springfield vs. Shelbyville." Or, he said something along those lines. The point being that Dash was the origin of this super fun idea and we are so pumped to announce we are doing it! Sponsored by ARTSCO, IWC/KPS are presenting "Springfield vs. Shelbyville Poetry Slam" on January 27th, 2017 in the Laurel Packinghouse.

This is our official CALL TO POETS. We are making two teams of SIX POETS EACH. If you are a Kelowna poet, you can request to be considered for the Springfield team. If you are from anywhere outside Kelowna (Vernon, Coldstream, Lake Country, Peachland, Summerland, Penticton, Kamloops, Enderby, Armstrong) you can request to be considered for the Shelbyville team. IF YOU ARE NEW TO IWC, PLEASE COME OUT TO OUR OPEN MIC TO PERFORM AND LET US KNOW YOU ARE AUDITIONING FOR THE SLAM IN JANUARY. If you have performed before, feel free to drop us an email at inspiredwordcafe@gmail.com letting us know you want to be considered for the slam. Be sure to clarify which team you are competing for. All poets will be selected and announced by December 9th.

Tickets go on sale for this super fun, community based night of performance poetry in January, 2017. Poets, get writing. Stay tuned for more details!

This event would not be possible without the sponsorship provided by ARTSCO. Big up and huge thanks to the team, especially Katie Brennan, for believing in IWC and supporting arts and community in the Okanagan.
